Bloodspoint Cemetery. Southern Boone County in Northern Illinois. History is still alive in this cemetery and it is in danger. In 2010 the cemetery suffered over 8000 dollars in damage to the fragile stones from vandals that continue to visit the cemetery to this day. The Sheriff's Dept. is out there at least 3 - 4 times a night to chase off anybody that would try and do the cemetery harm. Larry Eissler and I started a movement to restore and protect this and other cemeteries in the Northern Illinois area from the same fate. We are currently looking to become certified in stone repair and preservation of historic cemeteries through the State. I have posted an album of pictures that I took with a UV camera earlier this year in the photos section of the site. We have an uphill battle for sure, but our efforts at Bloodspoint did not go unnoticed. The restoration is taking place, we just cannot be involved due to a caretaker that does not want it. I don't care as long as it is getting done. Lights have been placed in the cemetery, and the shed in the back that gave vandals a place to hide and drink, is no longer there. As far as hauntings go, I have been to Bloodspoint a number of times, as well as the Chicago Paranormal Detectives.....neither them or us have ever found any evidence to suggest a haunting there. If you are interested in what is going on with Bloodspoint or our other efforts elsewhere, visit the facebook page, Bloodspoint Cemetery, or our website at www.bloodspointcemetery.webs.com. Our nations cemeteries are our last and best link to our past. We must not let them be destroyed by vandals. Every stone they destroy represents a life and a part of our heritage and history.
